With lockdowns in place driving high digital adoption, a gap in Vietnam’s market remains underserved. The majority of Vietnam’s population lacks unparalleled access to financial services which are often overlooked by the banks. With 55.5% of the population under 35 years of age and a high savings rate of 69%, translating into higher disposable incomes than ever before, the younger generation is driven to invest and grow their savings for the future. Digital investing is one of the main avenues for them to manage their personal financial plans.
The pandemic has spurred interest in saving and investment apps around the world, especially ones geared toward newer investors. In Southeast Asia, startups in this space that have raised funding over the past few months include Ajaib, Bibit and Stashaway—and that’s just a (very) partial list. Now Infina, which calls itself the “Robinhood of Vietnam,” is announcing an oversubscribed $2 million seed round.
I spoke briefly about my excitement to improve payment interoperability in Indonesia. As part of Saison Capital’s continuous effort to track Indonesia’s payment scene, I will talk about Indonesia’s Payment System Roadmap 2025 in more details and its impact to the ecosystem starting from existing landscape, drivers for change, pain points, payment roadmap, and future possibilities.
There is no reason Venture Capital industry dynamics and early-stage investment frameworks should be opaque, and we should aim for a world where capital is a commodity, information is free, and there is an even playing field between founders and VCs.
